ADP and Aelia plan to merge airport retail outlets

RBR Staff Writer Published 12 April 2011

Aeroports de Paris (ADP) and Aelia, a company owned by Lagardere SCA's services division, plan to combine airport retail stores Duty Free Paris and Societe de Distribution Aeroportuaire.

Aelia has submitted an offer for the purchase of all the shares that The Nuance Group owns in Duty Free Paris. Duty Free Paris, which is a joint venture between Aeroports de Paris and The Nuance Group, runs fashion outlets at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports.

Aeroports de Paris and The Nuance Group have allowed Aelia negotiation exclusivity for about two months, during which Aelia, The Nuance Group and Aeroports de Paris will negotiate the terms for a possible purchase. However, the financial details have not yet been revealed. After the deal gets approved by the competition authorities, project implementation could begin this summer.
