Chacalli De Decker opens new duty-free store at Weeze airport

RBR Staff Writer Published 03 March 2011

Chacalli de Decker, the Belgian travel retailer and distributor, has opened a new travel retail store at the Weeze International Airport in Germany which serves Duesseldorf, northwest Germany and the nearby Netherlands, media reports said.

The 450sq m duty free shop is double the space of the previous outlet and offers a range of 4,700 cosmetics brands, wines and spirits, fashion and travel products. Apart from the expanded sales area, more space has been made available at the back of the shop.

The store reflects the collaboration between Weeze Airport, Chacalli as retailer and Gebr Heinemann, which distributes consumer goods to retail trade customers, as a supplier.

Chacalli de Decker's airport duty free division accounted for 42% of sales in 2010, a figure that the company said would rise to 50% in 2011, the reports said.

The company has been operating at the airport since 2003.
