Dutch firm B&S to acquire travel retailer Royal Capi-Lux

RBR Staff Writer Published 26 June 2012

B&S International, a Dutch wholesaler and distributor, has plans to acquire the Netherlands-based travel retailer Royal Capi-Lux.

After the acquisition, Royal Capi-Lux will continue as a separate division within B&S and the existing management will head the new division.

All the activities will continue from Royal Capi-Lux's current headquarters in Hoofddorp. In addition, the retailer will work closely with the other divisions of B&S with regard to strategic purchasing and the joint roll-out of concepts in the field of distribution and retail.

B&S chief executive officer Bert Meulman said that this take-over allows the firm to strengthen its wholesale and retail activities in duty-free electronics.

"We already have experience in the exploitation of our own duty-free shops, we have also been active in the travel retail industry for some time," Meulman added.

"The Capi shops at international airports and the trading activities of Royal Capi-Lux complement existing business."

Royal Capi-Lux, which recorded an annual turnover of about €100m in 2011 and employed around 230 people, operates electronics shops under the name Capi at international airports.
