Heinemann launches a new concept store in Frankfurt

Published 02 December 2009

German duty-free operator Gebr Heinemann has opened its first re-branded Heinemann duty free shop at Frankfurt International airport.

The new store, which covers 900 square meters, is located in Terminal 1 Transit Area B, where the retailer operates various outlets including a 750 square meter duty-free store selling core duty-free products, a Shanghai Tang outlet, and Bvlgari shop. The new store opening follows the initial launch of the new Heinemann concept at Hamburg International airport in 2008. As part of the re-brand, a new logo has been introduced featuring three red sails reminiscent of shopping bags. Around a quarter of the floor space focuses on generating Heinemann’s Choice promotional stages offering products customers would not expect to see in an airport. Another feature is the promotional stage for highlighted products from Germany which includes breakfast trays with German designs and food items such as Frankfurters and apple wine. Heinemann Duty Free also offers a range of services with a counter located in the store. Customers can now call in their orders, shop online before arriving at the airport and pick up their products from the counter on arrival. Gift-wrapping is also available and more services are in the pipeline. The retailer operates 39 shops here, along with a warehouse in Kelsterbach and employ 700 people.
