LFP extends retail presence at Portuguese airports till 2014

Published 11 February 2009

Lojas Francas de Portugal, the operator of Just for Travelers airport duty free stores, has announced the renewal of the concession contract with ANA Aeroportos de Portugal to extend its retail presence at domestic airports in Portugal until 2014.

This contract extension guarantees the continuing operation of the 17 Just for Travelers stores owned by Lojas Francas de Portugal (LFP), which seeks to invest in stores with exclusive products and improved service, alongside the opening of new concept stores focused on airport users. LFP is a joint venture between The Nuance Group and Tapger, a fully owned subsidiary of TAP Air Portugal. Nuno Amaral, LFP's senior manager, said: "The renewal reflects recognition by ANA that LFP is a profitable and credible partner who understands the specific nature of domestic airports and is willing to invest alongside ANA in transforming the panorama of airport retailing within national territory. On the part of LFP, this extension implies investment in airports of the order of E10 million over the next six years." Luis Rodolfo, ANA retail director, said: "Duty-free stores are present in six airports administered by the ANA, where they have a good level of knowledge of the profile of customers in each airport. Potential from this as well as good logistics and operational management is being maximized by their management team and the know-how of its stockholders - Nuance and TAP. "This has enabled LFP in recent years to ensure a good level of services in a continued way and the increasingly higher profitability of its airport commercial spaces. We are also satisfied that this partnership is in line with and motivated by the strategic plans ANA has for each of its airports."
