LS Travel Retail acquires duty-free operations of Unimex

RBR Staff Writer Published 04 January 2012

LS Travel Retail, a subsidiary of Lagardère Services and part of French conglomerate Lagardère, has acquired the duty-free operations of Unimex at Prague Ruzyne airport.

The company is expanding its presence at the Czech airport and consolidating its position in the nation, where the division already operates more than 250 shops, reported dfnionline.com.

The Unimex portfolio includes 15 retail shops across terminals one and two, including core duty-free outlets selling perfumes, cosmetics, tobacco, spirits and confectionery as well as fashion shops. The stores had been operated by a subsidiary UGAir.

LS Travel Retail plans to redevelop several of the acquired stores over the coming months. The transaction is effective from 2 January 2012.

In 2010, Unimex's total duty-free sales at the airport reached over CZK600m ($30.45m), while LS Travel Retail's current sales in the Czech Republic amount to around EUR120m ($156.5m) a year.
