World Duty Free unveils store at Edinburgh airport

Published 05 July 2010

UK-based travel retailer, World Duty Free (WDF), has recently opened a new store at Edinburgh airport in UK.

Covering an area of 6,942 square feet, the store was opened following the completion of airport operator BAA’s new security area and departures lounge refurbishment, part of a GBP40 million ($61 million) redevelopment project at the airport. The outlet replaces the previous shop, which spanned 4,769 square feet, and is located opposite the entrance to the departures lounge. The open-plan store has a 40 meters shop front and features oversized screens on its exterior, over the main entrance. The outlet has also introduced new brands and product categories that were not previously available at Edinburgh including leathergoods, jewelry from Pandora, Tom Ford fragrances, Chanel color cosmetics and skincare from Sisley. The store will also feature a World of Whiskies shop-in-shop within the main duty-free space, featuring an extended premium whisky offer and expert advice from specialist staff members. WDF will open a 600 square feet store dedicated to Estee Lauder Companies brands Mac and Jo Malone for the first time in the UK at Edinburgh due to open in October, 2010. An outlet dedicated to sunglasses focusing on a premium product offer is also scheduled to open around the same time.
